Why we built Occrr
Online dating in India has a few problems that everyone knows about.
- Fake profiles. Stolen photos, bots and people pretending to be someone else.
- Scams. Someone builds trust, then asks for money.
- Unbalanced apps. Far more men than women. Women get flooded with messages, men hear nothing back, and both give up.
- Privacy worries. Sharing a phone number with a stranger too early, or worrying who can see your profile.
We wanted a place that fixes these basics first. So we built one.
What we stand for
Real people
Every account is verified with a phone number through Telegram or a Google sign-in. One account per person. Members can also verify with a selfie that a real moderator checks.
Your privacy
Your phone number and Telegram username are never shown. You chat inside Occrr and decide for yourself when to share more.
Balance
We grow each city with care. Women join instantly. When a city has too many men compared with women, new men join a short waitlist. Any member can invite a friend to skip it.
Respect
We expect people to behave the way they would in person. Our community guidelines are short and we enforce them.
How we make money
Matching and chat are free, and they always will be. You never have to pay to talk to someone you matched with.
We earn from optional extras: Premium, Boosts and Super Likes. They are one-time payments. Nothing renews automatically, so you will never find a surprise charge. During launch, Premium is free for women.
We don't sell your data and we don't show ads from other companies. You can read exactly what we collect in our privacy policy.
Built in India, for Indian cities
Occrr is made in India. Prices are in rupees, payments work with UPI, and distance matching covers more than 100 Indian cities. We are launching city by city, starting with the Chandigarh tri-city: Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula.
